Regional Path
Tip: Replace each default slot with your teams, then create the bracket. Seed positions already follow NCAA order, so your bracket structure is immediately valid for March-style tournaments.
The tournament is divided into 4 regions: South, West, East, and Midwest. Each region has 16 teams seeded 1-16 based on their regular season performance.
First round matchups follow the bracket pattern: 1v16, 8v9, 5v12, 4v13, 6v11, 3v14, 7v10, 2v15. This gives higher seeds easier early opponents.
Region winners advance to the Final Four. South plays West, and East plays Midwest in the national semifinals, with winners meeting in the championship.
12-seeds beating 5-seeds happens about 35% of the time. 11-seeds upset 6-seeds roughly 37% of the time. 1-seeds almost never lose in Round 1.
