Common questions

How do I calculate tournament profit?

Multiply paying entries by the entry fee, add sponsorship income, then subtract venue costs, other fixed costs and costs per entry. With 40 players paying $25 and $800 in expenses, the estimated surplus is $200.

What is the break-even entry count?

It is the number of paying entries needed to cover costs. Divide fixed costs less sponsorship by the entry fee less each entry’s variable cost, then round up. At $25 per entry and $800 fixed costs, you need 32 paying entries.

Do I charge by team or by player?

Use the unit you collect payment for. A $100 team fee is counted once per team, regardless of roster size. A $25 player fee is counted once per paying player.

Does this collect entry fees?

No. This calculator estimates income and expenses. It does not collect payments or register participants.
